Privacy

This site collects three things: the email address you give the newsletter, the email address members sign in with, and anonymous counts of how the site is read. Each is used for the purpose below and for nothing else.

The newsletter address is used to send a notice when Atol Research publishes new work. Signups are double opt-in: you receive a confirmation request and are added only after you confirm. The list is hosted by Buttondown, which stores your address and sends the emails. We never sell, rent, or share it, and we don't use it for advertising.

Every newsletter email carries an unsubscribe link that removes your address immediately. To have it removed sooner, or for any question about your data, write to office@atolresearch.com.

Members sign in with a one-time code sent to their email. Sign-in is handled by Clerk, which stores the address and sets the cookie that keeps you signed in. We use it only to open the reports your membership covers.

To see which pages are read and which ones lead to a subscription, the site uses PostHog, hosted in the EU, and Vercel Web Analytics, and measures load speed with Vercel Speed Insights. None of them set cookies, store anything in your browser, or follow you to other sites. Visits are counted with an anonymous hash that resets every day, so we see how a page is read, not who read it.

If the site begins to collect anything else, we'll say so here first.
